It is established that the complex soil and climatic conditions at different elevations have a significant impact on the variability of seedling morphological traits and their growth performance. It is shown that the climatic and soil conditions at the Tsudakhar experimental base are more favorable for the species of the genus Celtis L. It is indicated that the complex factor in the conditions of the Gunib and Tsudakhar experimental bases significantly affects (at the 99,9 % significance level) the variability of almost all the studied morphological traits of leaves in seedlings of the genera Celtis L. No differences were found in Student’s t-test between the mean values of the leaf shape index traits in the C. caucasica Willd. and the C. planchoniana K. For the C. occidentalis L., the effect of the altitudinal gradient on the variability of the leaf index trait is reliable at the 99 % significance level. The species C. caucasica and C. occidentalis are recommended for forest restoration in the arid conditions of Mountainous Dagestan.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Рассмотрены вопросы реализации ростовых процессов у ювенильных растений рода Каркас (<italic>Сeltis </italic>L.) в зависимости от условий Горного Дагестана. Установлено, что комплексные почвенно-климатические условия разных высотных уровней оказывают существенное влияние на изменчивость морфологических признаков сеянцев и их ростовые показатели. Показано, что климатические и почвенные условия Цудахарской экспериментальной базы являются более благоприятными для роста видов рода Каркас<italic> </italic>(<italic>Сeltis </italic>L.).<italic> </italic>Указано, что комплексный фактор в условиях Гунибской и Цудахарской экспериментальных баз существенно влияет (на 99,9%-м уровне значимости) на изменчивость практически всех изученных морфологических признаков листьев у сеянцев родов Каркас<italic> </italic>(<italic>Celtis</italic> L.). Выявлено отсутствие различий по <italic>t</italic>-критерию Стьюдента между средними значениями признаков индекса формы листа у<italic> </italic>каркаса кавказского <italic>C. </italic><italic>caucasica </italic>Willd.,<italic> </italic>каркаса Планшона <italic>C. </italic><italic>planchoniana </italic>K.<italic> </italic>У<italic> </italic>каркаса западного<italic> </italic><italic>C. </italic><italic>occidentalis</italic> L. влияние высотного градиента на изменчивость признака индекса листа достоверна на 99%-м уровне значимости.
